What to do in La Marina
La Marina is a coastal village administered by the city of Elche. Nestled at the foot of the Sierra del Molar mountain range, by the Mediterranean sea, it’s very close to Guardamar del Segura and next to the Salinas de Santa Pola Nature Park. La Marina stands out for being a relatively undeveloped coastal area focused on sustainable tourism. And despite its rapid population growth in recent years, the village preserves its natural sites. Beaches and natural spots of La Marina
Elche’s best-known beach is La Marina, an extensive seashore of fine golden sand. It’s been awarded a Blue Flag as a mark of a quality beach and is surrounded by a large pine forest, an ideal place to enjoy a picnic with the family. It also offers services such as lifeguards, public toilets, lounger and sunshade rental, a children’s area and a parking area connected to the beach by means of wooden walkways. Here you can also practice water sports.
It stands between Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo beach, a virgin beach of high environmental value, and El Pinet beach, which reflects a much more traditional aspect with small houses and restaurants standing on the beach itself. The main access to reach this spot is on the N-332 national road.
La Marina international campsite
La Marina campsite is an ideal place to enjoy family holidays. Festivities in Elche
August is a very special month in the city of Elche, as they celebrate the patron saint festival and also the Moros y Cristianos festival (Moors and Christians). Elche’s festivities start at the beginning of August with La Cridà, a great night-time firework show.
The main events of the Moros y Cristianos include the Christian’s and the Moor’s parades, which take place on 8 and 10 August. On 9 August there is also a performance to represent how the Muslims captured the city and the battle between Moorish and Christian soldiers. The authentic historical setting takes us back to medieval times. This event takes place at 10 pm in the Palacio de Altamira, near the Basílica de Santa María.
