Discover Torrevieja

Torrevieja is a town located on the south coast of Alicante. It has 20 kilometres of coastline and is the fifth most populated city in the Autonomous Region of Valencia.

What to see in Torrevieja?

Torrevieja has an extensive cultural heritage, most notably the Archpriest Church of La Inmaculada Concepción. It houses several works of art. The Church of El Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, also known as La Ermita, is also an important tourist site. The viewpoint of the Torre del Moro, which is one of the towers from which the city was guarded, is another must-see sight. In addition, you can visit several museums such as the Sea and Salt Museum, the Floating Museums, the Holy Week Museum, the Museum of Natural History and the Ricardo La Fuente Museum.

Beaches and coves in Torrevieja

One of the most outstanding beaches in Torrevieja is El Faro, with its long promenade paying tribute to the fishing past of the region. On this beach you can also visit the Palmeral and the Lo Ferris cove, still an undeveloped area. In Cabo Cervera you will find a quiet, fine sandy cove washed by crystal clear waters. Cala Ferris is a cove with small dunes, ideal for diving as it is home to many fish. El Cura beach is located in an urban area, with easy access to services and sightseeing. La Mata beach is one of the largest in the area, perfect for walking or running along the shore. It has several beach bars, volleyball courts and is readily accessible. Los Locos is also an urban beach. It’s wide, boasts a Blue Flag, and offers services such as parking, toilets, showers and disabled access. Los Náufragos is also a beach proud of its Blue Flag. It has a small water park for the little ones.

Festivities in Torrevieja

Torrevieja offers a wide variety of activities and events to enjoy all year round. The Holy Week, Feria de Mayo and Carnival festivities have been listed as events of National Tourist Interest. Other relevant festivities are those in honour of the Virgen del Carmen and the patron saint’s celebrations to honour the Immaculate Conception. Finally, the Hogueras de San Juan (bonfires of Saint John) are celebrated around different quarters of Torrevieja.

How to get there

You can get to Torrevieja from Valencia either via the V-31 motorway to then take the CV-905 or the AP-7 toll motorway to exit 745. From Murcia, travel north on the AP-7 to exit 745. You can also travel by bus or train. Don’t let having no vehicle be an excuse to miss the opportunity to discover Torrevieja.
